Other Questions Regarding GPS (Q/A)

Can I use the Qube Gps when there’s no GPRS available In my Area?

A: In area’s where there’s no GPRS coverage, data can be transmitted by SMS which will be transmitted as soon as GPRS coverage is available.

What’s the difference between GSM, SMS and GPRS?

A:  - GSM (Global System for Mobile communication) is circuit switched. If the Qube GPS unit sends data via GSM, a channel is reserved (just like for voice communication) and data is transmitted. You’re charged for the time the channel is reserved.

- SMS is a short message that’s send via the GSM network and can contain about 140 characters. For large amounts of data or for messages with short time-intervals this is usually not the best option to choose for speed and financial reasons.

- GPRS (General packet radio service (GPRS) is ‘always on’ and packet switched. Data is sliced into packets and transmitted through the GSM network. This is faster and cheaper because network capacity is used more effectively. You’re charged for the amount of data that’s being transported, not for the time that the unit is online.

How to Set Geo-Fence?

Set up Geo fence for tracker to restrict its movement within a district. Unit will send message to authorized numbers when it moves out of this district.

First latitude &\longitude is coordinate of the top left corner of Geo-fence, while second latitude and longitude is coordinate of the bottom right corner.

EXAMPLE:       Broadway   lat: 14.612543 long: 121.032298

Cubao:    lat: 14.22756   long: 121.052777

NOTE! This function will be invalid if tracker moves outside the district. You need to re-set it if you want this function again.

How Does GPS Work?

WHAT IS GPS?

GPS TRACKER  stands for (GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM ) - is a space-based satellite navigation system that provides location and time information in all weather conditions, anywhere on or near the Earth where there is an unobstructed line of sight to four or more GPS satellites.

Originally created by the United States Department of Defense as a military application in the 1980s, GPS has since become a multi-billion dollar industry with a wide array of consumer products, services, and Internet-based utilities.
There has 24 (NAVSTAR) Satellites Orbiting the earth produce by the US Government One GPS Tracker requires Three Satellites. The more Satellites above in a Horizon the more accurate your GPS unit can determine where you are.

WHAT IS TRIANGULATION?

Triangulation is the process of determining the location of a point by measuring angles to it from known points at either end of a fixed baseline, rather than measuring distances to the point directly.

GPS receivers take this information and use triangulation to calculate the user's approximate location. Essentially, the GPS receiver compares the time a signal was transmitted by a satellite with the time it was received. The time difference tells the GPS receiver how far away the satellite is. With distance measurements from a few more satellites

These GPS receivers not only track the exact location but can also compute velocity and time. The positions can even be computed in three-dimensional views with the help of four GPS satellite signals. The Space Segment of the Global Positioning System consists of 24 Earth-orbiting GPS satellites.

(Travel of satellites is about 0.06 Seconds)

Longitude Measures Distance From West to East

Latitude Measures Distance From North to South.
